COMPUTER USE POLICY

The below represents Brooklyn Technical High Schools’ expectations for appropriate computer usage.  All policies align to the Department of Education’s Behavioral Expectations to Support Student Learning (B12, B19, and B30)

A computer laptop will be assigned by the teacher for performi8ng daily classroom work. The responsibility of the laptop/desktop is yours. You will be held responsible along with all other parties that use that assigned laptop/desktop!

I understand that as a member of this class, I will adhere to the following best practices regarding computer room and electronic use:

1.      I will not eat or drink in the classroom (except in specifically designated areas)
2.      I will not install any software on the machines. All software installation will be performed by school personnel.
3.      I agree NOT to:

a.       Change the appearance of the desktop and the screen saver.
b.       Delete, move, rename any files that are not your own.
c.        Use another person’s files as your own.
d.       Use chat/social software services.
e.        Use any file sharing except those used in the course as specified by the instructor.
f.        Use USB ports for charging personal devices or any other reason not required by the teacher.
g.        Unplug or move laptop charges from their plugs or use chargers for my own devices.
4.       I will check my computer work area every day and IMMEDIATELY REPORT ANY ANOMALIESTO THE INSTRUCTOR INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
a.       Bottles, food wrappers.
b.       Graffiti
c.       Mishandled or broken keyboards, mice, monitors and glass panes.
d.       Student work from other courses.
5.       I will be responsible for my assigned laptop/desktop as demonstrated by the following:
a.       I will sign in and sign out the use of my assigned laptop and return equipment promptly upon completion of class.
b.       I will not share laptops and/or desktops unless instructed.
c.        I will immediately report any type of damage or vandalism to the laptop and/or desktop to the instructor and then fill out a computer damage report.
d.       I will not move laptops from designated locations. Any group projects will be completed using the laptops at the designated location.
e.        I will log out of all email and user accounts in addition to closing all applications and browsers.
